About the Event
Tired of being ghosted? Tired of paying to onboard employees, only to have them quit within weeks of being hired? If so, you are not alone!
This webinar by Dr. Laura Brackin of Brackin & Associates will cover an overview of the DSP workforce shortage and the broad negative impact it has on disability service organizations. You will learn about strategies organizations are using to successfully recruit and retain employees, as well as resources that may be helpful to your recruitment and retention efforts.
Dr. Brackin's major leadership roles included serving as:
· Director of Louisiana’s Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities,
· Executive Director of a statewide advocacy organization,
· Director of the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, (UCEDD) Community Development Program, and
· Executive Director for the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Disability Affairs.
Dr. Brackin has served as an expert witness on disability issues at the state and federal level. She has testified before many legislative committees and was invited to speak before the United States Congressional Committee on Aging regarding long term care for individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Her testimony has influenced improvements in service delivery systems, disability policy, mental health policy, employment policy, and the rights of individuals with disabilities.
Dr. Brackin holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Research from Louisiana State University (LSU) and was a faculty member of LSU’s Health Sciences Center for 14 years where she taught Research and Evidenced Based Practice, Management and Leadership in Health Sciences Professions, and disability-related courses. She has received several awards for her accomplishments in the disability field, including the President’s Committee on Mental Retardation Public Policy Award, the National Conference of Executives of The Arc Rising Star Award, and the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Leadership Award (LA-AAIDD).
Today, Dr. Brackin remains focused on improving the lives of people with a DD, by empowering home and community-based providers. Her talent lies in generating practical solutions and presenting complex information in ways that make sense.
