About the Event
The Founder's Story is a webinar series where the founders of I/DD communities share their founding stories including their vision, findings, insights and takeaways in building their communities for their loved ones with I/DD.
Dave and Yvonne Streit founded The Briarwood and Tuttle Schools in 1967 to provide a nurturing educational environment for students like their daughter Vicki with either language-based learning differences or intellectual disabilities.
The Brookwood Community was founded in 1985. It was built on 475 acres of rolling hills in Brookshire, Texas. Today, more than 200 Citizens work in one or more of Brookwood's enterprises at its main campus in Brookshire or one of its two satellite locations in Richmond, Texas and The Woodlands, Texas. Over 100 Residential Citizens live on our 485-acre campus and another 130 Day Citizens live at home and commute daily to work on campus.
Unless noted otherwise, our online events are recorded and posted on our website at www.togetherforchoice.org. Anyone can access our webinar and blog posts, so please register only if you are planning to attend the live event.
Please note that the event will take place in Eastern Standard Time.
