In Camphill Village, I have been allowed to grow both spiritually and developmentally. I have learned many new skills here. Everyone in the community is my friend. Before I came to Camphill, I had people who were nice to me, but there was no continuity to my experiences. It seemed like I was jumping from one thing to another all the time. I was born and raised in Banner Elk, North Carolina. I have a very loving and supportive family; I have two older sisters and my parents who all helped me along my life’s path. One of my sisters discovered Camphill and helped me find my way here; I am very grateful for that. I have learned to cook for a whole house community, and I have also learned how to bind books and marble paper.
Through Camphill, I have traveled to Russia and to Quebec, Canada. Being in Camphill surrounded by so many volunteers from around the world has helped me to learn about many other countries. I am also in the group that organizes the agenda for The Village Forum, an open space where people can say what they think, like a town meeting. I am in the hosting group where we place guests in our village. Soon, I am going to become a member of the board of directors, for Camphill Village, USA; I am looking forward to giving my thoughts to the board.
Everyone has some problem whether you can see it or not, and this is a community where we all try to help each other out. It is very important for there to be a place in the world like Camphill, because Camphill brings healing to the world, which the world needs.
